Zwiegestirn

In 2021, I was invited to participate in the „Optische Mitte“ sculpture trail. My exhibition space was located within the March Planet Trail. When one thinks of planets, one often sees the promise of possible life, a habitat. One sees the round shape as a culmination, as the center of something living in contrast to the vast emptiness around it. Furthermore, the circular shape/ball is an obvious reference to a „center,“ so I wanted to reverse the focus, omitting the circular shape and making the „in-between“ the topic — that’s where life should lie in this artwork. The form then emerged from a playful drawing, an ornamental combination of circles. A section of this served as the basis for a hanging three-dimensional object. The more mathematical construction of the form contrasts with the material realization of willow and wool, which makes the object approachable and places it in a context of humanity and culture.

2021 wurde ich für den Skulpturenweg „Optische Mitte“ eingeladen. Mein Ausstellungsort lag innerhalb des Marcher Planetenwegs. Wenn man an Planeten denkt, sieht man oft die Verheißung möglichen Lebens, eines Habitats. Man sieht die runde Form als Ballung, als Zentrum von etwas Lebendigem im Gegensatz zur weiten Leere drumherum. Zudem ist die Kreisform / die Kugel naheliegend für eine „Mitte“, daher wollte ich den Fokus lieber umkehren, die Kreisform aussparen und das „Dazwischen“ zum Thema machen – dort sollte das Leben liegen. Die Form ergab sich dann aus einer zeichnerischen Spielerei, einer ornamenthaften Verbindung von Kreisen. Ein Ausschnitt davon war der Ansatz für ein hängendes dreidimensionales Objekt. Der eher mathematischen Konstruktion der Form steht die materielle Umsetzung aus Weiden und Wolle gegenüber, die das Objekt nahbar macht und in einen Kontext von Mensch und Kultur stellt.
